Neoplasms of the spleen are a common finding on ultrasound examinations of the spleen. They occur in patients aged 6 years and older and are most often diagnosed incidentally. An example is Rudko, an 11 year old mixed breed dog, whose condition was diagnosed during an examination for a routine cough. After diagnosis, it is advisable to undergo a whole-body CT examination to defect possible metastases in other organs. Rudko was lucky and underwent splenectomy, the tumor weighed an incredible 2 kilograms but fortunately had no metastases.
